The Toyota Cressida

As i mentioned in my previous Entry I am doing a small lesson on 4 Door Drift cars, but more specifically my favorite 4 door. The Cressida

The Toyota Cressida is, well a boring car to look at in stock form. Actually it looks like a Toyota Camry and is most often thought of as a FWD Box on Wheels. You would be wrong to assume this. This car is actually, according to some people, a "4 Door Supra."

Why though? for one, the car is RWD, not FWD, secondly, the engine and transmission(Yes, Cressida's came in manual) are lifted straight out of the legendary Toyota Supra. The 5m-Ge and the 7m-Ge.

So basically, it's the Gentleman's car by day, and a Honda head hunter by night. Back in the 1980's these cars hauled on the highway and were very technologically advanced(digital speedo's, climate control, etc.)

Drifter's now are discovering the hidden gem about these cars. The JDM counter-part to the Cressida came from the factory with a 1JZ-GTE, and yes, the USDM Cressida can be fitted with a 1J quite easily. After that, the car just took off. New aero, true coilovers, suspension pieces were ordered on the quick!

And Just like that, the Cressida became what it is known as today, The Gentleman's Daily Drifter

As you can see, i love the Slammed on OEM aero look, that does it for me, but for others, There is aero available from Works9 that makes the car look Jaw-Droppin' in my opinion

Both these cars wear Works9 aero with the Works9 coilover kit as well

The Cressida has come a LONG way since its humble beginnings, and I hope the car keeps gaining popularity

PEACE!
